What is AIESEC?

AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. We are a non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership, and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion or national/social origin.

Since we were founded in 1948, we have engaged and developed over 1,000,000 young people who have been through an AIESEC experience. The impact of our organization can be seen through our alumni who represent business, NGO and world leaders, including one Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Martti Ahtisaari of Finland.

What does AIESEC stand for?

AIESEC (pronounced eye-sek) was originally an acronym for "Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales". AIESEC is no longer used as an acronym but simply as the name of the organization.

Members of AIESEC are known as “AIESECers.”

For example, if you are from Turkey and you live/study in Kocaeli, then you should contact AIESEC in Kocaeli. They will provide you with the recruitment dates and all the information you need to have to join AIESEC.

This is how to work our selection process in each product:

Global Volunteer:
The process is very simple. First, see in the opportunity page which skills and requirements they seek:

If you check with everything, just wait for the interview with the host entity. DON'T WORRY, this interview isn't harsh, it is just for alignments and if your profile matches with the project they offer(and sometimes to see if you have knowledge about the language that they require for the project).

After the interview, Check with then to see if you are accepted and, if you are, just pay the fee and fill your LDA that you will just have to prepare for the trip ❤️

(Some entities also ask you to fill a form, so check with your home committee if this the case)

Global Entrepreneur:

The Global Entrepreneur's process is simple as well, the main difference relies on the startup's requirements. Generally, they seek people with more skills in a specific area. Take this for example:

FAQ: Will I be allowed to travel on weekends?

Weekends are generally off days given to you for traveling and exploring the places around you unless specified in the opportunity or if your EP buddy has planned activities for you. You are free to explore the places around provided that you take care of your safety and keep your EP buddy well informed about your whereabouts.
